At Time's Humming Loom
solo multiple percussion
written for and first performed by:
Gordon Gottlieb
reference: from Goethe's "Faust" (part one)
"Thus at Time's humming loom, tis my hand prepares,
the garment of Life, which the Deity wears."
20 pages (11"x17") duration ca. 10It will be noticed that my instrumentation is a simplified version of Charles Wuorinen's "Janissary Music", a work written for Ray DesRoches, first performed in 1968. This was decided on as a show of my indebtedness to these two great musicians. The title is taken from Goethe's "Faust" (part one) "Thus at Time's humming loom, tis my hand prepares, the garment of Life, which the Deily wears."
