Music of Hues

alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, piano, vibraphone, drum set, violin, cello
to painter Hugh B. Sullivan
23 pages (11"x17") duration 4' and 36"
The intent was to write, in the transparent format of solo vibraphone, a music where rhythms and pitches were determined by common sources and were designed to be of equal interest to listeners. Due to notational failures this score has been reworked three times over the years, only recently resolved through a study of harp notation. As the title suggests this work is offered to all out of gratitude.
